Coverage in Issue 43 (September 2024)

The material received for the Rotifer News 43 is being uploaded onto this page from time to time before the final issue is made. The material included here is temporary and some kind of “pre‐print” or “early view” before the final issue. As indicated in the issue 36, citations to Dissertations and Theses will be continued in the subsequent issues of RN.

Features

A new unit “Erratum” will be added to the Rotifer News from the Issue 41 onwards. Any mistakes appearing in any issue of Rotifer News, if pointed out by any user, will be corrected and indicated in the next issue immediately.

Books and Book-Chapters of non-taxonomic literature but with emphasis on rotifers will be added under the title “International / Regional Books and/or Book-Chapters” as scanned first few pages.

If the authors agree, then these will be reviewed by respective experts on the theme. Such comments will be published in one of the issues of Rotifer News

Authors of Books and/or Book-Chapters with emphasis on Rotifera are encouraged to submit to the Editor for possible consideration.

The following additional considerations will apply:

  1. Only authors can submit the documents
  2. Works of no more than 2-year-old will be reviewed; older literature will be published as scanned copy of first few pages but will not be sent out for Book Review
  3. Comments made by the reviewers reflect their own views but are not necessarily endorsed by the Rotifer News

Invitation: Get your thesis/dissertation on rotifers indexed/cited in Rotifer News: While books and articles are indexed and cited, it is rare to see that for thesis/dissertations. Although some secondary sources such as ProQuest Dissertations and Theses (Dissertation Abstracts International) and Indexing services by different universities offer such information, these are generally restricted.  Dissertations and Theses may carry important information that has not been formally published. This is more so for theses/dissertations on rotifer research.  To promote coverage of the hidden wealth of knowledge on rotifer research present in dissertations and theses, Rotifer News (RN) welcomes bibliographic details.

The following details are considered for thesis/dissertation citations in the RN

  1. Any postgraduate level degree (MS, MPhil, Doctorate and Post-doctorate such as DSc) will be considered for indexing.
  2. To restrict timespan, only degrees awarded or submitted from Jan. 1, 2012 will be considered.
  3. The topic of the work must be related to a theme of rotifer research or, at the least, rotifers must be a major topic.
  4. The language of citation is English. See examples below.
  5. Information related to names of supervisors/promoters/guides/directors, etc. is optional.

Research Reports: Full text

Those who would like submit full text version of their research reports, please note that one or two such contributions will be included per issue. Since the scope of Rotifer News is generally for news items, we do not wish to saturate the entire issue with only full text versions of research in progress.

Bibliographic information required for indexing in the Rotifer News

1.   Author:

2.   Title or [Title of the thesis]:

Square brackets indicate that the thesis was not written in English, and it has also no English title in original; it has been translated by the contributor for inclusion in the RN

If the thesis was written in any language other than English, please indicate the original language.

3.   Year of submission or the year that the degree was awarded:

If the year of submission is different from year of award, then the former prevails.

4.   Degree to which the work was submitted:

5.   University to which the work was presented:

6.   City / Country of the University:

7.   Numbers or pages of the work; if figures, plates, and/or tables are not numbers then their number should be indicated: e.g., 15 figures, 2 plates, 10 tables.

8.   Abstract of the thesis/dissertation is optional.

Let Rotifer News index your little-known research contributions for free!

Most contributions on rotifer research are indexed in many different secondary publishers such as Web of Science, Scopus, ASFA, etc. Yet, many valuable publications on rotifer research (such as book chapters, special volumes of conference proceedings or their abstracts, university journals, etc.) may go un-noticed, as they may not be indexed. Such works still serve as valuable sources of literature for present or future rotifer studies. Therefore, to provide visibility to such works, Rotifer News invites bibliographic data of your published contributions for indexing. The following conditions apply:

  • Bibliographic data of works that are not available in secondary publishers will be considered
  • Recently published works must carry ISSN or ISBN
  • Authors need to send bibliographic information of their own works
  • There is no timespan; for very old works, non-indexed literature is acceptable.
